All vegetarian and vegan-friendly "fast food"

Extensive menu of vegetarian-vegan food, worth a special trip if you're in the vicinity. Lacto-vegetarian restaurant with huge portions - good value. A fair number of vegan options. Many veggie burgers, Mexican dishes, and pasta (not sure whether whole grain available). Could use a few more general vegetarian entrées, especially of the low fat variety.

Founded in 1981 as a fast food vegetarian restaurant, Dharma's Natural Foods is completely vegetarian, with 95% of our items primarily vegan.

Dharma's includes as many items that are organic as possible, such as flours, veggies, some fruits, wines, beers, as well as our lentils, beans, tofu & pastas. We use extra virgin olive oil and cold pressed oils. And of course, we use no preservatives!

I lived in Santa Cruz for years and only started eating at Dharma's in the last years that I lived there, much to my lost. The food here is great with such a wide variety of choices. There are many dressings to choose from and the salads are delicious. I tend to stick to the soup, salad, and rice but the Nada Chicken Burrito is my husband's favorite. The Breakfast Burrito is a winner every time with everyone I take there. Don't miss out on the fabulous soy shakes in great flavors! I would eat here everyday if I still lived there but then I would be broke!

The place is set up so you order your food at the counter and they call out your name when your order is ready. It was only about ten minutes from ordering time to eating time, and when I was there it was pretty busy. The plates my friend and I ordered were both delicious. (We ordered the Veggie curry plate and Bo thai pasta.)
Lots of variety on the menu, and the portions are huge. (It's always nice to have a snack the next day.) Good choice for a casual yummy place to eat
